On the 15th of June, 5th and 6th Class went to Lough Key Forest Park and Arigna Mines on their school tour. First we were shown a DVD about how miners mined coal and iron in the 1900s. Soon after that we were given hairnets and helmets and our tour guide Michael met us at the entrance and he took us on a guided tour of the mines.
When we arrived at Lough key Forest Park we were divided into groups and went into Boda Borg which to take part in a combination of physical and mental challenges.
After lunch we went on a nature walk where the guide filled us in on the history and nature of Lough key Forest Park and we got to climb the tower with 116 steps. The top was breath taking with a 360 view of the park. Lastly we played in the Adventure Play Kingdom. We’re never too old for swings and slides!!
Finally exhausted but happy we got on the bus and headed home.
