Third Class enjoyed doing a maths trail in our school today. The children really enjoyed linking our classroom learning to our environment outside school. The children solved lots of questions that helps us to see maths is all around us. Well done Third Class!!!

Well done to First and Second class who planted strawberries in our school garden today and to Fifth and Sixth Class who planted herbs and a flower bomb. A big thank you to all classes for all their hard work in our school garden!!! Well done to all the children in Junior Infants, Senior Infants, First Class, Second Class and Third Class who took part in their final hurling/camogie training session today. A big thank you to Elaine Hickey for all her hard work training all the boys and girls in our school. Thank you Elaine!!  We have been awarded our 5th Green Schools Flag for Travel. Well done to all on the Green Schools Committee and all of the children and families for their efforts to make this a reality!!! In Tang National School we have been a green school since 2013. We will now have five Green Schools Flags. We were awarded our first green flag for Litter and Waste in 2013 and our second flag for Energy in 2015. We were also awarded our third green flag for Water in 2017 and our fourth flag for Biodiversity in 2021. We have now been awarded our fifth green flag for Travel in 2023!!! Ms Hurley, Ms Behan, Chloe and Grace from the green school committee were invited to the flag awarding ceremony in the Radisson Hotel in Athlone on Wed 24th May 2023. At the ceremony the girls collected the flag with Ms Hurley on behalf of our school and the green school committee. After the ceremony, everyone enjoyed a lovely hot lunch and dessert before returning to school with our new flag and certificate! We are all looking forward celebrating the fantastic achievements of our whole school and community and celebrating with a Flag Raising Ceremony later in June. More details to follow. Thank you to Elaine Hickey for all her hard work!! The whole school from Juniors to 6th, all the staff and the local community gathered in Tang NS to enjoy a worderful sport's day. The day was jammed packed with activities from fancydress to races and from novelty races to team events. The sun shone and we even enjoyed some ice-cream. Many thanks to all th parents who helped out on the day. Thank you to Elaine Hickey for all her hard work!! Congratulations to all our boys and girls in 2nd Class who made their first holy communion on Saturday 6th May, 2023 in Tang. A great day was had by all! Thank you to Ms Hurley and Fr Godwin for all their help in preparing the children for this very special occasion.
