Virtual Sports Day was a great success around the Tang community last Friday. We received so many lovely photos of the children competing with their families and having lots of fun. After a slow damp start, the weather finally picked up. It was very obvious that a lot of planning, preparation and practice went into the activities. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we enjoyed viewing the photos. Good job everyone!
Thank you for all the entries to the fancy dress competition. We were blown away by the creativity and the lengths the children went to creating their costumes. The winners of the Topical category are Cara and Isla Taplin. The runners up, in no particular order, are Grace and Emma Keegan, Isabella Murphy and Mya, Noah and Sasha Gill. The winner of the Creativity category is Ethan Rhatigan and the runners up, in no particular order, are Charlie Gibson, Isabella Mannion and Laura Gardiner. Well done to everyone!
It was such a treat to receive these lovely photos from some of the Senior Infant children. They are busy at home writing, baking, experimenting and creating brilliant artwork. Well done children!
A wonderful poem about the times we find ourselves in at the moment. I think it really captures how our children and us are feeling at the moment and the great anticipation for when we can return and be with each other again. Well done to Mya G in 4th Class for this wonderful insight and for sharing this with us all.
The boys and girls in Senior Infants have worked hard at home with school work, garden explorations and science experiments over the past few weeks. They now are very much looking forward to relaxing over the Easter break. We wish you all a Safe and Happy Easter and below are some lovely Easter cards the Senior Infant children made for their classmates .
We celebrated World Book Day today by having a paired reading session across all classes. The children brought in a book of their own to read to their assigned partner and they discussed what they enjoyed most from the story.
Farmer Vincent came to visit Junior and Senior Infants today and he brought one of his lambs with him. The lamb was only 1 week old. We had fun petting the lamb and we had some great name suggestions for him. Vincent explained to us how he can tell if a lamb is feeling unwell, why he needs to shear sheep but not lambs in the summer, why all farm animals need ear tags, why sometimes farmers put paint (brand) on the backs of the sheep and lots lots more. We had a lovely afternoon and you can take a look at all of us with the lamb, VJ Popcorn.
We had a super pancake filled day in school today to raise money for the Tang Lip Sync competition. Every class had the opportunity to purchase a pancake. There were lots of delicious toppings to choose from so the decision was a difficult one! Thank you to all the mums and dads for organising the event, for donating supplies and for cooking all the pancakes for us all day. We raised total of €514.90. It was no mean feat but a great success!
The children have had a great time learning hip hop dance with their teacher Ms Mary Drummond for the past 6 weeks. The final week finished with a wonderful show- each class showcasing their new dance moves. The finale saw all pupils and teachers take part in a group dance! Great fun was had by all.
We congratulate our 6th class pupils on receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation during a lovely ceremony from Bishop Thomas Deenihan today. They celebrated the special occasion in Ballymore Church along with pupils from Ardnagrath, Forgney, Ballymore and Boher NS. Well done to everyone and we hope it was a memorable day for you.
