Our school sports day took place on Wednesday 29th of May. We started the day with our fancy dress competition. There were some really clever and imaginative entries. Well done to the boys and girls who took part and to those who were lucky enough to win medals.
Afterwards we headed out to the basketball court and pitch where each team completed a number of activity stations. Later in the day after everybody had eaten their ice creams, the children competed in a variety of races. There were plenty of happy faces and medals won. The weather cooperated and everyone had a most enjoyable day. Thanks to all that participated or helped out on the day. The children of Junior & Senior Infants took advantage of the fine weather to work on their mapping and maths skills during their PE orienteering task. The children worked together in groups to solve the problems and puzzles hidden around the school yard, and certainly had lots of fun doing it!
Congratulations and well done to our artists Ruby, Mia, Anna, Alison, Louise and Beth who had great success in their age categories for Drumraney/Tang Community Games. Ruby, Mia and Louise will now go forward to represent Drumraney/Tang in U12, U10, and U8s.
We were delighted to welcome Patrick Claffey to Tang NS during the week. Patrick presented the school team with a fabulous new set of school jerseys for our teams to wear proudly when representing our school at sporting events. We are very grateful to Patrick and Catriona Claffey of Claffey's Ballymahon for their very generous sponsorship. Congratulations to Emily, Lucyann, Lochlann and Tristan on their amazing achievements of late in the world of sports.
In last weekend's Gymstart 2024 competition Emily came 1st and Lucyann came 2nd. For community games U11 girls gymnastics Lucyann came 1st and Emily came 3rd while Lochlann came 1st in U11 boys. Lucyann also won silver in the recent u12 mixed relay trials and goes forward to represent Longford in the Nationals in May. Meanwhile, Tristan became a basketball County Champion in recent weeks also. Great sporting achievements all round, well done all! Well done to all the children in 1st -6th class who took part in their first hurling/camogie training session today.
