Vision

Picture
St. Mary’s National School, is a caring and inclusive school, rooted in the local parish of Tang and serves the people of our community. It is a Catholic school that has been established with the Minister of Education having as it’s Patron Most Reverend Tom Deenihan, the Bishop of Meath.

In St. Mary's National School, Tang we are committed to the development of the whole person, as well as handing on Christian values and a shared Irish culture to the next generation. Parents, teachers and our parish work together to provide a child-centred education which includes preparation for the sacraments and promotion of respect for diversity. Children from all backgrounds are welcomed into our school.

We strive to create a learning environment where children are safe to grow in knowledge and understanding and continuously acquire new skills, attitudes and values.

We are fully committed to offering excellence in education by:

  • Promoting the highest possible achievement for our pupils
  • Enabling the children to become independent learners, providing them with the knowledge and skills necessary to realise their full potential
  • Establishing the foundations for lifelong learning
  • Nurturing and building the children’s self-esteem
  • Ensuring equality of opportunity for every child thus promoting their holistic development (respectful of difference – race, gender, culture, language, religion, etc.)
  • Encouraging children to grow within the Catholic faith
  • Welcoming input from parents to complement the skills and experience of our professional teaching staff
  • Ensuring that our school is central to the parish, reaching out to embrace the wider community
