On Thursday Fr. Godwin, parents and pupils came together to celebrate the 6th class children with mass and songs. We are very proud of the wonderful young people they have become over the past 8 years. It was lovely to be part of such a special day and we wish them the very best going forward into Secondary school.
We were treated to an amazing display of football between our Tang NS girls team and the St Colmcille's, Gainstown team in there Cuman na mBunscoil Division Two County Final yesterday. The Gainstown girls battled hard to the end but a very deserved win went to our girls at the final whistle. Well done girls, you made us all incredibly proud and gave us a great day out.
A huge debt of gratitude goes to Alan our coach and all the teachers and staff who trained with the team each week and helped organising the matches, pitches, jerseys and referees. We would also like to thank Sheila in Murrays, Maghera for their donation towards the homecoming which allowed us to put on a lovely spread of hot food and sandwiches for the team and supporters. Delicious hot food came from Nallys and Finns provided an ice cream (or two!) for everyone at the school afterwards. Finn's also donated treats for the team. We would like to thank our parents for all the support at matches, for items donated for the homecoming and lifts to matches. Our parents and staff are always on hand to help out at school events like this and whether it is making the tea or cleaning up afterwards we are always very grateful for the efforts that make each event so memorable! Congratulations again to our girls and their management, we are very proud of all our girls and delighted with their achievements! On Friday last the 5th and 6th class children travelled to Lilliput Adventure Centre for their school tour. Here are a few snaps from the bog hopping! We welcomed Martin Comey and his wife Mary Lee, along with Helen and Gloria McCann to our school today. We were privileged to have Martin and Mary Lee visit from America as part of the Irish American Partnership. Martin Comey has ancestral connections with Tang and over the years he has generously donated monies through the Irish American Partnership towards library, science and computer resources and equipment. His most recent donation also helped develop our walking track around the football pitch. Martin and MaryLee previously visited nearly two decades ago and they were delighted to visit the school again and meet with the staff and children. Congratulations to our three Irish dancing ladies from Junior & Senior Infants, pictured here with the lovely trophies and medals they won for stepping it out at a Féis at the weekend! Well done, Emma, Chloe and Emma!
The very best of luck to our School Girls Football Team who are through to the county final of the Cuman na mBunscoil competition. The Final will take place in Cusack Park, Mullingar on Wednesday 15th June at 5pm and we hope to see the whole community there to support our girls.
A fun filled day for all classes. Huge thanks to the 5th Class boys and girls and Ms McDonnell and Ms Tuite for helping run the all important tuck shop on the day! |
