4th and 5th class decided to take part in the reading initiative called 'Reading Wars.' This initiative aims to encourage children to read outside of regular classroom and homework time, fostering a love for reading and improving literacy skills. The initiative is a friendly competition designed to motivate children to engage in daily reading habits. Well done to Luke Sloyan who was the overall 'Reading Wars' Champion. Luke recorded over 30 hours of reading on Seesaw over 6 weeks!!! Well done Luke!! Our overall runner up was Luke Kelly who recorded an impressive 15 hours on Seesaw!! Well done Luke!! Well done to Ethan Rhatigan who took first place in the Fifth class competition. Well done Ethan!! Also, well done to Kayleigh Percival who came 2nd and Charlie O' Toole who came 3rd in the Fifth class competition. Congratulations to Luke Sloyan who also won the 4th class competition and to Luke Kelly who also came 2nd and Florence Henry who came 3rd in our 4th class competition. Finally, well done to Óisín Donoghue who received our Most Improved Reader Award!! Well done Óisín!! Well done everyone in 4th and 5th class for all the extra reading you have done over the last few weeks!!! Congratulations to the pupils of 6th class who were confirmed by Bishop Tom Deenihan in the Church of the Most Holy Redeemer, Ballymore on the 21st February 2024. Everyone looked fabulous for the event and we hope they all enjoyed their celebrations of the Sacrament. The children of 4th, 5th and 6th class have enjoyed their tag rugby sessions this term. Thank you to Charlie Cooper from Buccaneers for all his hard work. Second and third classes completed a lantern making workshop with Steph and Kev Hanlon. Each pupil got to make their own lantern which will be featured in the Longford Light Festival which takes place in Connolly Barracks from 23-25 February.
