The whole school had fun today celebrating World Book Day. The children brought in their book of choice and enjoyed the opportunity sharing them with their friends and Buddy partners during some Buddy reading time. Classes also came together to have a special table quiz all about books. See below some pictures of our day. Huge excitement this morning in school as we held our annual Christmas Fundraising Draw. Thank you to everyone who sponsored and supported our Christmas Raffle this year. Congratulations to our winners and we wish you all a very Happy Christmas and every blessing for the New Year. See picture for the list of prizes and winners.
The children were delighted to meet the big man himself Santa Claus and have their picture taken with him today in school. Each child came away with a lovely present of a selection box and the whole school got together to sing a few songs for Santa before he headed back to the North Pole for final preparations for the big day. Many thanks to our Parents Association and volunteer elf Nora for taking all the photos and videos.
It was with great excitement and anticipation that the Junior & Senior Infants were able to perform for their parents, their 1st nativity in Tang N.S. The children had been practising hard learning the songs and lines for the play with their teacher, Mrs. Seery, for the last few weeks. On the day, the children sang and danced with great gusto and the play was enjoyed by all who came. Mr. J. Martin Comey, in association with the Irish American Partnership, kindly donated money last May to the school. The money donated was combined with Department funding to update our sports equipment (hurdles, agility ladders, basketballs, footballs, hula hoops, cones) and to part-fund new netting at the back of the goals, which were only recently installed. We thank Mr. Comey and the Irish American Partnership for their continued support, which has greatly benefitted our school and pupils. Below you can see images of the equipment in use and our new goals which will hopefully keep the footballs from going astray! He worked with each class exploring and investigating mini-beasts, their natural habitats and dinosaurs. He read stories about the hedgehog and the robin to Junior and Senior infants, played a 'bat' game and listened to a bat detector, searched for bugs in the school grounds and used bug viewers to see some minibeasts up close and personal! Dale played some videos and showed replicas of dinosaur fossils and bones and even brought a special dinosaur puppet in for us to meet. Fifth & sixth also had some fun creating some structures for them to huddle in. Looking forward to seeing everyone out in support of this Tang GAA Pitch Development Fundraiser. Viewing from 11am on Sunday 13th November. Drop off any items for auction from 9th to 11th of November between 7pm and 9pm. |
