Congratulations to our boys’ soccer team, who claimed national honours at the FAI Schools Primary 5s National Finals Day in the Aviva Stadium, Dublin, on Tuesday. This marks the first time in the history of the competition that a school from Westmeath has won the Boys Small A competition, making the achievement even more special. Representing Leinster in the Boys' A Cup (Small Schools) competition, our boys produced a superb series of performances, winning all three of their matches to secure the national title and bring the coveted silverware back to the school. The competition was played in a group format, with the school accumulating the highest number of points across three matches crowned overall champions. The boys began their campaign with an impressive 3–2 victory over Scoil Cholmáin Tuairíní from Galway. This was followed by a convincing 5–2 win against Gaeilscoil Cois Feabhail from Donegal. They completed a perfect day with another 5–2 triumph over Knockanore NS from Waterford. Adding to the celebrations, Gavin was named Player of the Tournament following the trophy presentation, a fitting reward for his outstanding performances throughout the day. A huge well done to Daithí (Captain), Rory, Jack, Robert, Gavin, Harry, Isaac and Luke, as well as their coach, Mr Horan, whose dedication, hard work and commitment helped make this remarkable achievement possible. This historic success is a source of immense pride for our school and community.

Cumann na mBunscol Champions 2026

27/5/2026

Our boys football team are the Cumann na mBunscol Iarmhí Champions after an unforgettable victory over St. Mary’s National School, Collinstown in only the second ever replay in the history of Cumann na mBunscol Iarmhí.  After fourteen long years, our boys have brought the title home for the first time since 2012, writing their names forever into school history. Every tackle, every score, every roar from the sideline showed the incredible spirit and pride of this team. They never gave up, never backed down, and played with heart from the first whistle to the last.

A massive well done and thank you to Mr. Killane for his tireless dedication, commitment, and countless hours of training and preparation. The hard work, belief, and passion he has put into this team shone through every minute of this historic victory. Thank you also to all the parents, families, supporters, and the wider local community who travelled to support the boys. The colour, noise, and encouragement from the sidelines lifted the team every step of the way. Special congratulations to Gavin on earning Player of the Match, and to Luke, who captained the team with pride and delivered a tremendous speech that represented the spirit of the group so brilliantly.

Hard luck to our school hurling team in their semi-final today. While the result didn’t go our way, the team showed great determination, skill, teamwork, and sportsmanship throughout the match and can be very proud of their efforts. They represented the school brilliantly all year and gave everything right to the final whistle. A huge thank you also to Elaine for all her hard work, dedication, and commitment to the school team throughout the year.
